Sometimes in the pursuit of better health we overdo things or, in other cases, our bodies are just not used to our new exercise routine. In these situations, slowing down, rest, and consultation with your physician are recommended. In some instances, when the pain is not responsive to more conservative treatments, pain management procedures can be performed. These procedures can reduce the patient’s current pain and provide a path for longer term pain relief through calming the associated inflammation so as to promote healing.
Pueblo Radiology has long provided pain management services in our Bath Street office. Commonly, the injected medications consist of a short-term anesthetic for pain relief (Lidocaine) in combination with a long-acting corticosteroid (dexamethasone) to promote healing. Our studies are imaging guided meaning that our physicians monitor the process through use of real-time fluoroscopic imaging. Studies have shown that image-guided treatments are far more effective for the patient as the medication is injected accurately, in the area of the problem.

Epidural injections (spine)
An epidural steroid injection (ESI) is the delivery of powerful anti-inflammatory medicine directly into the space outside of the sac of fluid around your spinal cord. This area is called the epidural space.
Transforamenal injection (spine)
Epidural glucocorticoid injections are commonly given to patients with leg and/or back pain to relieve such pain and improve mobility without surgery.
Facet joint injection (spine)
A facet joint injection is performed to treat neck and back pain in combination with other non-surgical spine treatments like rest, medications, chiropractic manipulations, and physical therapy.
Joint injections
Joint injections are non-surgical procedures that apply a solution of anesthetic and corticosteroid directly to damaged joint tissue.
Tendon injections
In a tendon injection, your foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon puts a substance into either your tendon or the area around your tendon with a needle.
Bursa injections (around major joints)
Bursa injections contain steroids that soothe bursitis inflammation and joint pain. The steroid injection eases symptoms of hip bursitis, shoulder bursitis and other types of bursitis
